Elemental
A visual connection between humanity and the environment.
Background
I am embarking on a new project with the working title of Elemental. The idea being to showcase the human form in context to extraordinary locations and bring them to life in a new way by mixing drone photography for its aerial perspective alongside traditional photography.
Whilst all of these photographs were taken here on our planet, my aim for this work is to produce an image that feels ‘otherworldly’. The more alien the landscape the better. I enjoy people asking me “Where on Earth is this?!”
The images are art nude and focus on shapes that are sympathetic to the energy of the environment. The aerial shots give the viewer a visual feast that shows the full location, but with the human figure within. Where relevant I include protraits or close ups (hands, feet) that help conect the viewer to the landscape.
I am fascinated by locations with history and enjoy writing about the past civilizations that will have shared the same location. As a photographer I’ve struggled taking photos of landscapes alone, I always favour having someone in frame to complete the image. This work is an extension of that, but with the added focus on the beauty of the human form.
Each trip is one I have carefully researched and the carried out solo. Me and a model and as needed a driver. I prepare a moodboard of locations that can be reached during the trip and arrange suitable accomodation/hotels to stay along the way to make the process as easy as possible. I make it a fun and collaborative process and enjoy writing about each trip afterward.
When I am home in my studio I print the images that stand out for me and if there is space on a wall I have them framed as well.
Please note that a number of these images have not been shared with others as I plan to currate a body of work first. Hence this page being password protected, so I ask that you keep this link to yourself.

The images below are a few examples of the work
Please note, many of these are draft edits that I am only sharing at this stage to provide some wider context. I have been busy shooting this year and plan to dedicate time to editing and printing a selection of images from each of the trips below.
Malta - Salt Pans
A stunning location that kicked off this photographic adventure. Read the blog post here.
Printing is my benchmark
I always try and come away from these trips with images that are print worthy. That is my own personal standard.
This also means I don’t enjoy sharing images in this digital format. I believe they need to be seen on paper and ideally as big as possible much like this example.
This is just my way of saying I hope you will let me show you some of these images in person.
Death Valley
An amazing place and a perfect chapter in this story. Read the blog post here.
What is the reason for the nudity?
I have tried these same images with clothed models. Somehow the fabric of a dress or trousers was a distraction to the location and that intemiate connection between the person and the environment was lost.
Lanzarote
Desperately seeking volcanoes and black sand. Read the blog post here.
Iceland
A giant island that is world all of its own Read the blog post here.
Gran Canaria
Sand dunes that belong in Africa and a wild coastline. I haven’t had time to edit many from this trip.

Other Trips
A mix of images from Utah and Italy.
Summary
I have reached a point where I have a body of work that whilst still needs editing and triming down, I want to get some advice on what steps to take next. My images of the salt pans of Gozo are still somewhat untapped and I have been told by one gallery in London could support an exhibit on there own. But I wanted to add to the story hence embarking on a number of other trips. I hope to showcase a suitable selection that collectivey tell a story and excite the viewer with each page turn. I’m well aware that this means culling a bunch of images (partly why I have not edited all of them) which is why I am looking to find someone to help review them.
I hope to finish this photographic adventure with an exhibition and a book (that I will fund) which is a mix of the images, but also the stories of the places and people within. I do want to sell my work and am at a loss as to where to start there (price wise). I am not looking to make a huge profit, but more to fund the costs involved in the sentence above.
Thank you for reading this, I very much appreciate you taking the time!
